A letter to the committee

Dear Committee Officers and Members,

So often we miss opportunities to connect with, inspire, praise, and recognize others for things they have done and have yet to accomplish. Therefore I have asked the chairman to grant me the privilege of speaking before you tonight to share some thoughts and to recognize committee members who have recently distinguished themselves.

The Democratic National Committee mission statement is dedicated to the principles that every American should have the chance to get a good education, to work at a good job with good wages, to raise and provide for a family and to live in a safe and secure community which offers, through hard work, service and sacrifice the opportunity to enjoy a future brighter than the preceding generations’.

Democrats in East Fishkill share this vision and are dedicated to keeping our community safe, encouraging strong economic growth, affordable health care, retirement security, honest government and civil rights for all Americans.

I believe that we Democrats have faith in the judgment of our citizens and that wisdom and compassion can be found within every individual and with this understanding know that a stable government must be built upon a broad popular base.

It is the history in East Fishkill politics that we have been and remain the minority political party and as such we continue to strive to make our community a better place through the promotion of Democratic philosophy and principles by encouraging, supporting and advocating candidates from within our membership ranks for elected and appointed office.

We can be very proud that we have a voice in our town’s government that is heard and represented by two members of our committee who sit on the East Fishkill town council one of whom ran successfully this past November and continues to serve our community. I want to officially congratulate Bill Dahncke on his re-election to our town council. Councilman Dahncke is representative of the Democratic Party’s faith in our multi-party political system and strives to work “across the aisle” with all other members of East Fishkill government for the betterment of our town and its citizens.

We have reason to be proud of another member of our Democratic Committee through his hiring to a position within the Town of East Fishkill’s engineering department. Mr. Rick Witt is a dedicated member of this committee and is eminently qualified for the position he now fills and will be an asset to the Town of East Fishkill. Mr. Witt’s work will find him supporting efforts to promote “smart” development and maintenance and improvement to East Fishkill’s infrastructure, thus addressing the needs of our town’s citizens and improving our quality of life. We should be very proud to have Mr. Witt serving in this capacity.

Mr. Witt’s hiring was the result of a consensus that crossed political party lines and a decision that took into consideration the greater good of all town residents. This approached is typically American and was eloquently stated by Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States when he said, “America is not anything if it consists of each of us. It is something only if it consists of ALL of us”.

Therefore, we should thank the citizens of our town who re-elected Councilman Dahncke and the town officials who supported Mr. Witt’s hiring. These men will prove themselves to be valuable assets for ALL OF US in the Town of East Fishkill.

Please join me in congratulating Councilman Bill Dahncke on his re-election and Mr. Rick Witt on his hiring. We wish them much success.

Martin C. Dubinski
Member, East Fishkill Democratic Committee
