Citizen of the Year Award

to honor an East Fishkill resident who has made a positive impact on the town.

Steven Shultis

Our honoree this year is Steven Shultis, commissioner of the East Fishkill Fire District. Steve, also the owner of SJS Contractors for more than 30 years, lives in East Fishkill with his wife, Helene. He is chairman of the board of the Fishkill Baptist Church, where he served many years on the Trustee Board.

In his service to our Fire Department, Steve has been a mentor to, and inspiration for, many people.

Over the years, he has served as a second lieutenant, first lieutenant, captain and chief of Hopewell Hose. For the East Fishkill Fire District, he has been first assistant district chief, fire chief and safety officer. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Dutchess County Fire Advisory Board, and has been its chair since 2006. Since 1979, he has been a member of the Dutchess County Chief’s Counsel.

We are proud to be able to honor Steve, an outstanding volunteer and supporter of our town.

Sunday, Oct 3, at Le Chambord
from 11:30am to 2:30pm.

There will be a silent auction.

The award is named for the late Dominick Cannizzaro, who served three terms as Supervisor for the Town of East Fishkill.

Proceeds benefit a charity chosen by our honoree, the Dominick Cannizzaro Foundation and the East Fishkill Democratic Committee.
